About Gestalt therapy

Gestalt Therapy is a Humanistic form of counselling and psychotherapy – this means as a Gestalt therapist, I believe that every human possesses the ability to grow to achieve their full potential.

As a humanistic therapy, Gestalt therapy is not about disease or disorder – it is about us as individual & unique human beings and about how at times any of us can struggle to live in the world and make sense of it…

We get stuck when we experience painful events in our lives that we can’t resolve. Each time this happens, our ability to deal with our own feelings and the world about us becomes more and more limited – our lives become more restricted by fear and more painful.

As a Gestalt therapist, I aim to support my clients to discover, explore & untangle these stuck places and move on to achieve happier and fuller lives…

With Gestalt, the relationship between the therapist and the client is more important than in perhaps any other type of therapy – this means that I place an emphasis on being honest, real and human – none of the detached aloofness that you might find in other forms of therapy – you get a real relationship, with a real person – but this is an ethical relationship with clear boundaries, that is about your well-being.
